If you want a more relaxing way to get around the city, the NYC Ferry is it, especially in great weather and when you are not ultra pressed for time. I don't know how packed it gets with rush hour, unfortunately, and you have to be on time to catch them. There isn't another along in five minutes like subway.

Unlike the subway as well, you are not subject to waiting in dark tunnels if there is a delay. So far, the AC/heat works on all ferry boats I have taken. Since you haaaaave to have a ticket to ride, you are not subject to the homeless (Not looking down my nose at them. They just don't need to be subway nomads.) and fare beaters.

Also, for those who need a way to unwind or rev up, alcoholic beverages and other refreshments usually available onboard or at the pier. A great way to wow friends and fam coming to town on dah cheap as well.
