Grouse Mountain Peak
2023 Aug 16
The Grouse Grind trail was brutal. Ranked top 5 for difficulty in Canada. It’s no joke, even for the avid hiker. Very steep and rocky. A little over 2 miles. If you’re going to hike bring plenty of water. If you’re not a daily exerciser or in shape, don’t even think about hiking it, take the gondola. Once at the peak there’s plenty to see and do: try zip-lining, catch a bite with views at the cafe, or watch the logger show (pretty entertaining). If you’re outdoorsy, I def recommend.
Seawall Water Walk
2023 Aug 14
Great experience! Chose to rent bikes from spokes bike rental right across the street ($12/hr) and then proceeded to ride the full loop. Went on a Monday in August and it was pretty busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Parking was $8.50 for two hours. There are two separate parallel paths one for bikes and one for walkers. There were bikers, rollerbladers, skaters, and scooters. The weather was great and the views were even greater. It went from a harbour type view, to ocean, to beach and ocean, to lake, to city. It was pretty cool. Total loop was around 6 miles for me (the official site says 7) but maybe I just started at a weird point. Finished it in around 45 minutes and that included frequent stops for pictures. There are plenty of benches and stopping points for pictures, including a pretty well kept beach and a huge pool towards the the end! All in all would highly recommend if you’re looking for something active to do in the Vancouver area.
Centre Island Pier
2022 Jul 29
Another great experience! Definitely recommend doing if you’re visiting Toronto. The cruise itself to get to the pier is only about 15 minutes. Once you’re on the island, there’s an abundance of things to do (roller coasters, food, biking, sunset watching, etc). However, rides and restaurants close at 8/830 pm so I would suggest going before then. The boats come back every 30 or so minutes, so you can stay as long as you want!
